POSITION INFORMATION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead all phases of company safety investigations involving high risk, high profile, and/or cross-divisional events in accordance with the company SMS
-
Collaborate with key operating division management to support division investigations, as necessary
-
Provide strong coordination and collaboration with operating division and safety division subject matter experts throughout investigations
-
Work collaboratively with corporate investigations department and operating division stakeholders to develop and maintain AAG safety investigation standards

Perform root cause analysis in response to operational events and hazards
-
Oversee active risk mitigation plans in response to investigation findings
-
Produce comprehensive and timely investigation reports and brief key leadership on findings

Conduct witness and subject matter expert interviews to establish basis criteria for investigation findings and contributing factors

Educate, inform, and train key subject matter expert employees in the company investigation standard process

Manage and maintain the company safety database with investigation findings and mitigation plans

Actively track open mitigation plans in response to investigation findings

Support the Director Safety Assurance and Managing Director, Safety Programs with other duties, to include SMS, facilitating Safety Risk Management (SRM) reviews, managing external audit (IOSA, DOD, etc.) preparation activities, and performing safety risk analysis of trends and patterns

Display strong communication skills and ensure discretion with all investigations

Perform special analyses and reviews upon request, including system implementations and/or safety, compliance, and whistleblower investigations

Weekly travel between key operating offices in Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. Less frequent travel throughout the Alaska route system.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Four-year bachelor's degree required
-
Minimum of five years related experience required - Investigations, Operational Process Auditing, Aviation Safety experience a plus

Minimum of three years airline industry experience required
-
Must have strong interpersonal skills and an outstanding ability to communicate while exercising discretion with sensitive information
-
Proven ability to quickly understand complex operational processes, effectively scope investigations, and effectively lead high energy cross-division investigation teams

Safety Program Management/Safety Management System Experience desirable
-
Investigator and/or root cause analysis certification/training desirable
-
FAA Certificated Airman Desirable - Commercial/ATP, Airframe/Mechanic, Dispatcher, etc.

High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Minimum age of 18 required

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
