Peace of Mind Newsletter

Brain Matters: We are learning about how our brains work! In all of our Peace classes from PreK to 5th grade we are beginning to learn about our brains. We have learned about how our amygdalae are the "security guards" of our brains. That the amygdala is always on the lookout for danger, and is where our emotions lie.

GOING STIR CRAZY IN SNOW?
WE'VE GOT THE SOLUTION ON FRIDAY 1/29
And it's CHEAPER THAN THERAPY

Come out to Tenley Bar and Grill this Friday night and help support Lafayette at the same time.
What could be better! Signature drinks, a chance to sing with one of Northwest DC's favorite bands, and NO KIDS.

The party starts at Tenley Bar and Grill on Friday January 29 from 6 to 9 when the great Tenley team has generously offered to give back 10% of all proceeds from dinner and early drinks back to Lafayette. Starting at 8:30 PM, we'll collect a $10 a person cover charge at the door and the band will play several sets from 9:00 until late into the night. If you are already there for dinner, don't worry about the cover charge. All proceeds from the door go directly to Lafayette so spread the word and bring your friends, co-workers and fun casual acquaintances.

We are also looking for a few parent volunteers who love to rock and have always fantasized about working the door at a rock club. All you need to know is how to make change from a $20 when someone pays their $10 door charge.  Practice with your kids before you go out! Sign up for a short 1 hour shift. Your groupies will love you forever. www.SignUpGenius.com/go/30E0E4DA8A82CA13-cheaper

So get your Groundhog Groove on and get ready to rock for Lafayette this Friday 1/29 at the Tenley Bar and Grill

Lafayette Gives Back

Thanks to everyone who has donated baby carriers so far! If you still have one that you'd like to bring in, this is your last week to donate to Carry the Future, a non-profit organization that will distribute them to Syrian refugees in Greece.  This Friday, January 29th, is the last day for donations. Ihe collection bin is located in the administrative office, and we're also collecting Kind bars, baby food pouches (the soft kind, no glass containers), and hand-written notes for the refugees, which can be placed in the baby carrier bin as well. Thank you! For questions please contact Jamie Davis Smith or Katie Burke.
