From Principal Lynn Main
Last Thursday and Friday afternoons were busy in our cafeteria. The counseling staff took over the place for another in a series of character education assemblies. Each month we have a character word that is the focus of our morning announce-ments and Caught Being Good initiative. Earlier in the year I attended one of the assemblies on self-control, that word of the month. How it means to have control over your body and voice in school. How to keep your cool on the playground and in class. This month the word is kindness. Our assemblies were on what it means to be kind. >> Read more |

From the HSA
Jenny Murray & Gayle Moseley, co-presidents
Thank goodness the Election is over! Congratulations to all the new Student Council members who were elected last week!
Thank goodness the Election is over! Congratulations to Barack Obama for being reelected to a new term as President of the United States.
Thank goodness the Election is over! Congratulations to the numerous volunteers who helped organize, run and prepare baked goods for voters coming to Lafayette. We raised over $1,400 for the school!
Thursday evening is our second General Meeting of the school year. We hope that all parents will attend, but we are extending an invitation especially to fifth grade parents and students to please join us for an informative meeting. James Albright, Principal of Alice Deal Middle School, will be there to talk to prospective students and parents about life at Deal. There will also be some Lafayette alumni there to talk about their experiences at Deal and to answer any questions you or your children may have about the next step in their educational career. Because students will be in attendance, the meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. (half an hour earlier than usual), so we can wrap things up a little earlier. Here is the meeting agenda for your review.
Stay safe,
Gayle
