SEA Principal Kim Hiel Named the 2014 Science and Math Principal of the Year
 Principal Hiel's advocacy for STEAM has helped to make the School of Engineering and Arts a premiere school where every aspect of each day has a STEAM-integrated focus engaging students through observation, inquiry, and problem solving. To honor her work, the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minnesota Elementary School Principals' Association (MESPA) awarded Principal Hiel with the 2014 Science and Math Principal of the Year award. Robbinsdale Area Schools Implements Four Wellness Initiatives
 As part of the Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) Robbinsdale Area Schools are implementing four wellness initiatives geared to prevent disease and create healthier communities that support individuals who want to make healthy choices in their daily lives. The wellness areas are Active Recess, Active Classrooms and Healthy Birthday Celebrations (non-food and healthy food). To learn more about the wellness initiatives, click here. RSI, SEA Celebrate Hour of Code
Last week, students from all over the country participated in an Hour of Code. The goal of Hour of Code is for all students to have the opportunity to learn computer science. Students from RSI and SEA enjoyed coding at school and at home. Check our Facebook page for more photos.

Register Today for the 2014 Seven Dreams Education Foundation Bird Bash
Tickets are on sale now for the Bird Bash - the Seven Dreams Education Foundation's inaugural fundraising event! Join us on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at the Plymouth Creek Center to celebrate Seven Dreams' legacy of giving. Since 2003, Seven Dreams has funded almost $250,000 in educational grants to Robbinsdale Area Schools. Look forward to a fun evening including dinner and entertainment as well as silent, live and fund-the-need auctions. The event will be hosted by Janie Peterson, former KSTP-TV meteorologist and current Robbinsdale Area Schools mom.

ECFE Students Held Food Drive
Early Childhood Family Education held a food drive last month and collected 1,033 lbs of food! That's enough to feed a family of four for eight weeks, or approximately 860 meals. Good work!

Art is Primary Display at the Robbin Gallery
Robbinsdale Area Schools' visual arts program will partner with Robbin Gallery to present the second annual art exhibit of elementary students' artwork. The Exhibit "Art is Primary" will run from Dec. 17-26 and features creations from students in grades 1-5 from all ten elementary schools in the district. For more information, click here.
Holidazzle Parade
This is the last year for the Holidazzle parade in Minneapolis and the Cooper National Honor Society students will walk in the second-to-last parade on Friday, Dec. 20. Wear orange to support our students and see the Holidazzle one last time!
Laxtacular '14
Armstrong boys lacrosse will kick off the upcoming spring season with the Laxtacular '14 community dinner on Friday, Jan. 3 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Golden Valley VFW. The event includes a pasta dinner, silent auction, spirit wear sales and good company. Register online by Sunday, Dec. 29 for advance ticket prices, $10 for adults, $5 for children.
