Students from Northport Elementary had a special visitor last week, Viktor the Viking! Viktor came on behalf of Northport's Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) team. FUTP 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program. Northport's FUTP 60 team is helping teaching students the importance of eating breakfast everyday before learning. We're proud of Northport for successfully encouraging their peers to make healthier choices by eating right and being active 60 minutes per day. Click here to view more photos.
SEA Drops Pumpkins for the Sake of Science
Students at the School of Engineering and Arts held an anti-bullying walk on Halloween to wrap up anti-bullying month. After walking a mile around the school grounds, students prepared for the highly anticipated pumpkin drop. Each classroom engineered a box to guide a pumpkin safely from the roof of the school to the concrete below. Three pumpkins managed to survive the fall! Click here to view more photos.

Boys2Men In Robbinsdale Area Schools
On Oct. 30, Boys2Men (B2M) had their kick-off event at Hennepin Technical College. Students attended sessions led by equity specialists in the district. They talked about topics that will continue to be reflected in the curriculum throughout the school year. B2M is a support program in its third year at Plymouth Middle School, Robbinsdale Middle School, Armstrong High School and Cooper High School. The goal of B2M is to support African-American males academically, emotionally and socially. This is the first year B2M is at Meadow Lake, Northport and Sonnesyn. The group serves as a safe place for young men to discuss issues they face in school and society and there is a strong emphasis placed on reaching high academic success. This is carried out in a variety of ways such as attending study tables, peer tutoring and teaching young men how to advocate for themselves to assure their needs are being met in Robbinsdale Area Schools.
