Get Involved!

We have many ways for parents, staff and community members to get involved with several committees:

The Special Education Advisory Council is actively seeking parents to join. The role of SEAC is to provide input on special education issues within the District. Its purpose is to advise and advocate, not to decide policy. The first meeting of the 2013-14 school year will be Monday, Oct. 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Education Service Center. To learn more, click here or to get involved, contact Ellen Woit at Ellen_Woit@Rdale.org.

Communications Advisory Council is hosting its first meeting of the year on Thursday, Sept. 19. If you are interested in attending or learning more, please contact Tara at Tara_Cegla@Rdale.org.

Bandstand Blast

Last Friday, both high schools hosted all third and fourth grade students in their respective attendance boundaries to a marching band presentation. Students learned about opportunities to start band in fifth grade and saw the bands perform. It was a beautiful day to see our two wonderful marching bands show off their talent!

We're Proud
Minnesota Educational Theater Association Honors Former Teacher

Longtime Robbinsdale Area Schools teacher Gretchen Heath was honored by the Minnesota Educational Theater Association (META) for the Dedicated Lifetime Achievement award.  Gretchen started teaching in Minnetonka in 1963 and then started teaching English and drama at Cooper in 1969. She also taught English at Hosterman for five years before ending her career as an English teacher and debate and speech coach at Armstrong in 1997.

Outside of the classroom, Gretchen co-founded the Rainy Lake players, was active in the origins of the Minnesota Chitakwah, and was instrumental in the development of the early Guthrie Theater Education department.

Congratulations for receiving this prestigious award and thank you for your years of service in our schools, Gretchen!
