Armstrong Girls Lacrosse Headed to State Tournament
For the very first time since lacrosse has been a sanctioned MSHSL sport, the Armstrong Girls Lacrosse team is headed to state, having defeated Mounds View 11-8 on Wednesday, June 5 in Osseo. According to head coach Billie Moir, the girls deserve the recognition for all of their hard work this year. "This is my ninth season as head coach at Armstrong," explained Moir. "We refer to ourselves as 'Armstrong Ladies Lacrosse' because while the girls are athletes, they are so much more off the field. We tell them to represent our program in the classroom and in life. And they do a great job of keeping their priorities in line."
The team is 14-1 after losing the first game of the season. Since then Coach Moir said "they circled the wagons quickly and have improved everyday."
The girls will play Blake, who gave Armstrong their only loss of the season, at Chanhassen High School on Tuesday, June 11 at 3 p.m.
The team also has an All-State player - senior Mari Verbeten.
