Celebrate the Poets in our District
April is National Poetry Month and we'd like to recognize the students who are learning the difficult writing form. Students can either share their work on Twitter, using @ISD281 or #RASpoetry, post them to our Facebook page or email tara_cegla@rdale.org. We'll share the poems as they come in. Can't wait to see what our student poets can create!

Area Construction Zones will Disrupt Traffic Construction on Winnetka Ave. Started April 1
CenterPoint Energy will embark on a multi-year natural gas pipeline replacement project to replace approximately 72 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline known in the area as the Belt Line. Begun on April 1 was approximately 1.5 miles of 24-inch steel pipe located in the public right-of-way along Winnetka Ave. between Rockford Road and Bass Lake Road. Beginning in June, there will be a full closure of the Winnetka Ave. and 42nd Ave. N intersection. Some of the key points regarding the construction project include:
- The FULL closure of the intersection will occur between June 10th and July 7th, weather permitting. This is a 4-week time period.
- Once the major work in the intersection is completed, one lane of traffic in each direction along both 42nd Avenue and Winnetka will be reopened.
- The remaining work in the intersection (once one lane of traffic in each direction is reopened) will take an additional 5 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
- Some pre-construction work will occur prior to the June 10th closure of the intersection, including lane diversions, signage installation and construction prepping.
- Once construction is complete, CenterPoint will take between 5-7 days to restore disrupted areas, including sidewalks, boulevards, and disturbed grassy areas.
- Business will still have access off of Winnetka and 42nd Avenue, with minimal disruptions.
- A detour plan was prepared and presented at the meeting.
The project is anticipated to finish by mid-August. For more information, visit CenterPoint Energy's website or click here. To view the CenterPoint Energy presentation, click here.
