Help Us Celebrate Music in Our Schools During March!

March is "Music in Our Schools" month and to celebrate, we'd like to highlight all the accomplishments students have made in choir, band and orchestra this school year. We're collecting images from music directors, parents, students and community members of music performances from the year to post in a Facebook album. Have something you'd like to share? Please send photos to tara_cegla@rdale.org or tia_clasen@rdale.org and look for the Facebook album soon!

A Note About the District Facebook Page

Since starting the Robbinsdale Area Schools Facebook page, we've noticed a fantastic community of fans that regularly engage with our content. Unfortunately,  Facebook changed its algorithm for what posts a user sees in their News Feed and we've noticed that not many people are seeing posts and photos. In order to see the district's posts and photos in your News Feed more frequently, you must like, comment and share more frequently. Facebook "predicts" what you want to see in your News Feed and if you've shown interest in a Page, Facebook will show you this content more often.

And, if you haven't already  "liked" us on Facebook and "followed" us on Twitter, now is a great time to stay updated on the latest news and information in the district. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Communications department .

Armstrong, Cooper Boys Basketball Update

On March 8, the Armstrong Boys Basketball team lost in the Section 6AAAA semi-final game, 83-57. It was a disappointing loss but we are so proud of how far you went. Congrats on a great season, boys!

Congratulations are also in order for Cooper's awesome season! The Hawks were victorious over Maple Grove last week but lost in the semi-final game against Park Center on March 12, 71-62, at Rogers High School. Thanks for an exciting season, Cooper!

Cooper Marching Band Fulfills Uniform Fundraising Goal

At the beginning of the school year, Cooper Band Director Mary James challenged her students to raise $60,000 by March 1. The prize? Not only new marching band uniforms but also a new hair color for Mary. The students succeeded and Mary sported her new rainbow hair at Cooper's Pops Concert on March 8. Fundraising came from candy bar orders, Qdoba purchases and a district contribution. Congratulations to the marching band for making the goal! We hope you enjoy the new uniforms.

Engineers Week at Robbinsdale Middle School

On Feb. 20, volunteers from the local Chapter of Specifications Institute (CSI) joined 6th grade students at Robbinsdale Middle School in celebration of National Engineers Week. RMS has hosted this event for 12 years now. Local architects and engineers join the classroom to give life to the engineering design process and building/design in general. This year Superintendent Aldo Sicoli joined students in engineering activities. Mr. Norholm stated, "This is right up our alley as an IBMYP school with a future STEM program to be introduced." Students will remember creating projects with real architects and engineers for years to come.
