Flu Season
This has been quite a year for the flu, and it's a good time for some friendly and helpful reminders.  It's not too late to get vaccinated, if you haven't already.  Frequent hand-washing is a very good habit!  Cover your coughs and sneezes inside your elbow (not with your hands).  Open restroom doors with a paper towel, if possible.  Routinely disinfect commonly used surfaces (such as computer keyboards and telephones), and please stay home when you are sick.  Our district hasn't seen absences higher than average this year, which is a great thing!  Let's keep it going!

Education about/for American Indians Taking Center Stage
Students at Plymouth Middle School had great opportunity to learn more about the Minnesota Ojibwe through poetry- over 500 students in 7th grade and many English Learners learned about the power of oral tradition in communication through a workshop.  They learned different forms of poetry and performed those poems in front of their classmates, and also attended a performance of the oral poetic tradition in its modern form by Marisa Carr, an Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) poet from Minneapolis.
In addition to this experience, 20 PMS students recently visited the Minnesota Historical Society and learned about the 1862 Dakota Uprising and its effects on different tribes and bands in Minnesota.
