Armstrong High School Organizes Successful Blood Drive
On November 30, the AHS Student Council held a very successful blood drive. With 74 people donating, they collected the most units of blood since 2009. The 15 student council members organized the sign-up, ensured that those donating were given breakfast, and kept everything as close to the scheduled time slots as possible. The students w ill be organizing another blood drive to take place on Feb. 8. Thank you, AHS Student Council, for providing the opportunity for people to give a very valuable gift!

Art is Primary Showcases student work at Robbin Gallery
 Students in grades 3-5 at all district elementary schools will, for the first time, showcase their talent at the Robbin Art Gallery in Robbinsdale. Artwork from ten students at each school has been chosen to be included in the show. Art is Primary will run from Dec. 18 - 28. The idea for the art show came from Robbin Gallery Director Vanessa Merry, who is also a parent in the district. Visit the Robbin Gallery during their regular hours: Wed. - Sat. from 12 - 4 p.m., and Thursdays from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Students should remember to bring their Passport to the Arts and receive a stamp! ____________________________________________________________ Winter Weather Closing Information

Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song Celebrates Elders, Diversity
A celebration honoring four community elders is set for Thursday, December 13, 6 - 7 p.m. at Forest Elementary School in Crystal. Elders' Wisdom, Children's Song celebrates American stories and heroes, bringing them to the classroom to share their oral history with our younger generation. Join in celebrating and honoring Maria de Jesus Vega Carillo, Charles Goah, Avaloy Mitchell and Kellie Kreller. _____________________________________________________________
Armstrong High School Speech Team Begins Fundraising
The speech team at AHS has gone from seven members in 2009 to nearly 40 members this year. Help their team continue their positive experience and success by donating to their online fundraiser. From now until Jan. 16, for every $5 you donate to their program, you'll be entered in a raffle for a two-night North Shore getaway, or a $50 coffee bar gift card. Click here to get to their fundraiser website. ____________________________________________________________ Centerpoint Energy Presents Gift Cards to Noble, SEA Students at Noble Elementary and the School of Engineering and Arts at Olson Elementary (SEA) helped Centerpoint Energy in their community service activity in November in conjunction with Metro Meals on Wheels (MOW) by providing handmade cards with holiday greetings for MOW clients to enjoy. In return, Centerpoint Energy is providing a $250 gift card to each of the two schools and is presenting the wonderful gift in person. Thanks to Centerpoint Energy who has been such a supportive corporate partner to our district!

Passport to the Arts Opportunities Abound in December!
Earlier on this year, students in grades 1 through 5 received a Passport to the Arts in their music class. When students attend various arts events in the district, they will receive cool stickers and can collect them in their Passport. A list of upcoming events can be found by clicking here or on the Passport icon on each elementary school's website. Enjoy the month of December with the many arts opportunities available!

Robbinsdale Middle School Theater Presents Andy Jr.
This is a new interpretation of the classic Annie Jr. which features the music from the musical Annie, which debuted on Broadway in 1977. Follow the wide-ranging adventures of Andy, his dog Sandy, and "Daddy" Warbucks. Performances will be December 13 and 14, 7:30 p.m. and December 15 at 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets $5 general admission; $3 students.
