League of Women Voters to Host Candidate Forums

The League of Women Voters of Crystal, New Hope, East Plymouth will host forums for candidates running for local offices.  At each forum, candidates will introduce themselves and resond to written audience questions. Voters may submit questions in advance to lwvcnhepmn@gmail.com.

Robbinsdale Area Schools Community Food Drive

The annual Robbinsdale Area Schools Food Drive begins October 25 and runs through October 31.  Since 1992, Robbinsdale Area Schools Building and Grounds department, along with retired educator Elaine Cohen, have been coordinating this effort throughout the school district.  The collected food is delivered to NEAR food shelf in Crystal and PRISM in Golden Valley.

40th Annual Cooper Arts and Craft Fair

The 40th Cooper Arts and Craft Fair is set for Sat., Oct. 27, 9 a.m. -
4 p.m. at Cooper High School.  The craft fair, which is sponsored by the New Hope Women of Today, raises funds for the Lavon H. Cooper District 281 Scholarship Fund and other various district programs as well as the New Hope Women of Today community programs.  Click here for more information or go to www.NewHopeWT.org.

School Transfer forms available beginning on Monday, October 22, 2012

Are you interested in having your child attend Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School (RSIS, Gr. 1-5), the School of Engineering and Arts at Olson Elementary (SEA, Gr. 1-5), or another district school (Gr. K-12)? In-district transfer forms will be available at  www.rdale.org, at all district schools, and at the Education Service Center (ESC), 4148 Winnetka Ave N., New Hope. All transfer requests are subject to space availability, date received, and put in priority order.

Current eighth graders and their families are invited to learn more about high school in Robbinsdale Area Schools in November.

Family Preview Nights are Thursday, November 1, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School and Thursday, November 8, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. Families are encouraged to arrive at 6:30 to meet with department staff in the foyer outside the auditorium before the formal presentation begins.

KDWB to Celebrate Reading Rocktober at Cooper on Oct. 17

 

Reading Rocktober is sending a KDWB deejay to the Wed., Oct 17 football game at Barbara Lehman Stadium from 6 - 7 p.m. to reward students for participating in what they already love - READING!  Enjoy music and prizes before the game. Of course, the biggest prize is the continuous improvement in literacy and reading skills for our students!

2012-2013 Robbinsdale MCGT Parent Group   

 

The Robbinsdale Minnesota Council for the Gifted and Talented (MCGT) group is a place to gather information and connect with other parents who have children in the gifted and talented programs through Robbinsdale Area Schools or are interested in enriching learning experiences for their children.  All interested individuals are invited to join us at the Kick-Off Meeting on Monday, Oct. 22 at 7:00pm, Sonnesyn Elementary School, 3421 Boone Avenue N., New Hope in the Media Center.  Melissa Hood and Susan Beaubaire will share an overview of the FOCUS program

 Annual Cooks Spaghetti Dinner   

 

Join us for the annual Cooks Spaghetti Dinner on Wed., October 24, 4:30 - 7 p.m. at Robbinsdale Middle School, 3730 Toledo Ave. N. in Robbinsdale.  Cost is $5/Adults; $3/Kids 6-12; 5 and under free. Halloween Family Fun Night at Cooper 

 

The Robbinsdale Cooper High School Orchestra wants to scare your socks off!  Enjoy spooky music, tantalizing treats and play lots of fun games. All ages are welcome. Be sure to wear a costume! Tues., Oct. 30 at 6 p.m., Cooper High School Cafeteria.   Admission $3.  Proceeds directly support Cooper High School Orchestra.

"Beatlemania" Benefit Concert for Cooper Marching Band

 
Enjoy an evening of great music Friday, November 9, from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Cooper High School Auditorium.   "Beatlemania" features Cooper's Marching Hawks in a special indoor concert performing Beatles hits along with live performances by The Shady Oak Groove Society, WCCO Blues Band, and legendary Liverpool rocker Joey Molland (formerly of Badfinger)  as he performs with the Cooper Marching Band.  Don Shelby, local news anchor, will host the evening's event.  Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy the tunes of the "Fab Four" along with some jazz, blues and marching band favorites.

Minnesota College Application Week at Cooper High School

Seniors at Cooper will be again take part in MN College Application Week November 12 - 16.  Students will learn more about college and begin and/or continue the application process.

Annual Fall Music Festival  

  2011 Fall Music Festival

Save the date of Monday, November 19 for the district's annual Fall Music Festival.  This year, due to construction, the festival will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center instead of Orchestra Hall where you will hear the music of Mozart performed by the symphony orchestras and concert choirs of both Armstrong and Cooper.
