2015 VOLUNTEER INITIATIVE
volunteer newsletter banner

AJFCA is thrilled to once again present two different opportunities to elevate the role and impact of volunteering at our member agencies and increase the engagement of young adults (people in their 20s & 30s) in our network.

Both groups will have the opportunity to attend
interactive sessions from the Volunteer/Young Adult Engagement track featuring speakers from member agencies as well as experts from Repair the World. Current workshops include a panel on the different ways member agencies are engaging Millennial volunteers, a workshop on a tool kit to engage family volunteers, and a session entitled, "From the Top Down: Embracing Volunteer Engagement as an Organization-Wide Strategy".

This is our fourth year offering select agencies the opportunity to attend our annual conference at a subsidized rate, thanks to a generous grant from Repair the World.  In the fall of 2015 our current funding from Repair, which has been instrumental in building our capacity to elevate the role of volunteerism in our network, will come to a close.  AJFCA is committed to the Volunteer Initiative in our network and is poised to continue providing quality content & support related to Volunteer Engagement.  We intend to continue volunteer-related programming at our conference, and will continue to connect with Repair for information and resources at the conference and throughout the year.

Professionals are invited to apply to
one or both of the following, but will only be able to participate in one.  Professionals who are part of the Ambassador program will have many opportunities to participate in programming alongside the Volunteer Professional Cohort.
2015 Volunteer Professional Cohort

While there will be considerable focus on engaging young adults, this cohort will provide broad professional development & network building opportunities for those who work with volunteers of all ages. Leading up to and following the conference, the cohort will receive ongoing support from the AJFCA Director of Volunteer Strategy & Repair the World Programming. Members of the 2015 conference volunteer professional cohort will receive $300 off conference registration.

  • Applicant should be the primary manager of volunteers at their AJFCA member agency
  • Applicant should be able to attend the AJFCA conference in full (approx. 7 pm May 2 - noon May 5. Accommodations may be made for those who observe Shabbat; speak to Jennie if this is a concern)
  • Members of previous professional cohorts are not eligible for subsidized registration, but are encouraged to attend if able to secure their own funding
  • Application must be submitted by 5 pm EST on Tuesday, February 10th

2015 Young Adult Ambassador program

  • The 2 Volunteer Applicants should be between the ages of 21 and 39
