Section 5310 is the formula grant that goes to states to enhance mobility for seniors and persons with disabilities by providing funds for programs to serve the special needs of transit-dependent populations beyond traditional public transportation services and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) complementary paratransit services.
DOT is looking for input from organizations that receive money from their state departments of transportation through this program. This includes most service providers for people with disabilities and older adults that get any support to buy vehicles. This program is what every state uses for working with non-profit service providers.
Easter Seals Project ACTION will serve as host for a Federal Transit Administration National Online Dialogue designed to gather input on proposed Section 5310 (Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities) grant performance measures. The dialogue will run from March 31 to April 18. FTA will use the information to make decisions about future investment and policies related to Section 5310 providers.
Here is the dialogue announcement and registration link. The dialogue homepage includes a link to a Background page with more information on Section 5310 and performance measures.
