Government Shutdown Webinar for Jewish Agencies

The federal government has been shut down since the beginning of October.  On October 17, without Congressional action, the U.S. Treasury will reach the federal borrowing limit without the revenue to meet all government's ongoing obligations.  Our communities are feeling the impact of this fiscal mess, with the prospect of catastrophic effects around the corner.

On Wednesday, October 16, please join a webinar on the budget crisis, hosted by the Association of Jewish Family & Children's Agencies, The Jewish Federations of North America, and the Jewish Council for Public Affairs.

We are thrilled to have Ellen Nissenbaum, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, to provide us with the latest details and policy prognosis.

Date:  Wednesday, October 16 at 4:00-5:00 p.m. ET
Audience: AJFCA members, Federations, JCRCs
Speaker:  Ellen Nissenbaum, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities
To register, visit:  https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/575631038

Action Needed: Sign on to Jewish community letter

AJFCA, JFNA, and JCPA are circulating a sign on letter regarding the shutdown and debt ceiling to send to Congress tomorrow.   Please review the text of the letter and contact Jill Borak at the JCPA if you wish to add your agency's name.  Due to quickly changing negotiations, this letter has a fast turnaround.   Please sign on by Wednesday at noon, Eastern Time

Action Needed: Tell us how the shutdown is affecting you

In order to assess the collective impact of the shutdown, it is important to send Shelley Rood any information about the effects of the government shutdown on your programs.  Thank you!
