Fuel Discounts Available to Tenants
All aircraft that are based at Waukesha County Airport are entitled to certain discounts, as part of Atlantic Aviation's service to the airport community. However, Atlantic is concerned that some tenants may not be aware of the fuel discounts, or may not be leveraging these discounts as effectively as they could.
First and foremost, you can obtain a $.75 per gallon discount on 100LL fuel if you taxi your aircraft to the terminal for fueling. Second, you can get that same discount at your hangar if you can take 50 gallons or more per service. Jets and turboprop aircraft are able to obtain customized discounts from Atlantic as well. Please contact Atlantic at 262-549-6150 to learn more about the fuel discounts available to you. |

Contract ATC Towers in Federal Budget
As you know, the Waukesha ATC tower was spared from closure along with 148 others across the country, after legislators pushed through a change to retain federal funding through the end of the fiscal year, which is Sept. 30. For the 2014 federal budget, which begins October 1, legislators have tried to ensure the continued funding of the contract tower program by adding it as a specific line item in the House Appropriations Bill for the Department of Transportation. We are cautiously optimistic that the funding will be approved in order to avoid another round of the lawsuits and public backlash that occurred this spring. Of course, we will keep you posted as we learn of any new developments on this topic.

Burlington VOR to be Decommissioned
The FAA recently announced that the Milwaukee System Support Center is planning to decommission the Burlington (BUU) Very High Frequency Omni-Directioinal Range (VOR) at Burlington Municipal Airport. They are currently commencing a study to ensure this would not be detrimental to the National Airspace System.
If this proposal moves forward, the VOR service will be removed and not replaced. Pilots will lose the availability of that beacon and the associated VOR approach to runway 29. There is, however, a GPS approach to that same runway.
If you have any concerns about decommissioning the VOR, the public is invited to comment in writing by September 17 to:
Federal Aviation Administration ATO Central Service Center Operations Support Group (AJV-C2) Nonrulemaking Case No. 13-AGL-26NR 2601 Meacham Blvd. Fort Worth, TX 76137 |

Greetings!
The airport is buzzing with activity during these prime flying months, and we have lots of news to share with you this month! First, we invite you to check out our Independence Day fireworks photos, which are available on our Flickr stream.
Next, we want to thank you for participating in the 2013 airport tenant survey. We conduct this survey every other year to see how we're doing in serving your needs, and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your views with us.
This year, you told us that fuel costs and hangar repairs are your biggest concerns, and we are exploring all options to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. In addition, please see the article in this newsletter regarding Atlantic Aviation's fuel pricing discounts, in order to ensure you are getting the lowest prices that you are entitled to as a Waukesha-based aircraft.
We were pleased to see that 2/3 of you have attended our annual air show and 59% of you have attended events at the hangars of other tenants. Most of you have also attended events hosted by airport businesses, and you are also utilizing these businesses at higher rates than in the past.
As always, we appreciate your loyalty to Waukesha County Airport, and we are committed to continuous improvement in your airport experience. If you have any concerns that were not covered in the survey, you are always welcome to contact airport management so we can address the issues in a timely manner. Thank you!
Fly safe,
Kurt

Taxiway D /F Reconstruction Complete
Taxiway D Becomes a Non-movement Area
The reconstruction of Taxiways D and F was completed on schedule and everything was re-opened in time for the July 4th holiday. As part of this process, a change has been made in order to allow fuel trucks and other ground service vehicles to access the ramp areas along Taxiway D without contacting the ATC tower.
Taxiway D, east of Taxiway C, has been designated as a non-movement area. Markings were painted on Taxiways F and D that show where the movement area begins. This change will reduce congestion on the ground control frequency and allow tenants less restrictive access to their ramp and aircraft. If you operate on this new non-movement area, please be very careful as everyone adjusts to this new environment.
We truly appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation during the construction, especially those of you who were displaced during this time. We hope you are happy with the improvements and welcome any feedback you have. |

Airport and the Community
The past few months, we have noticed articles in the news featuring members of the airport community that we though you would enjoy. They include:
- Marshall Services, the auto collision and repair company owned by tenants Scott and Aaron Marshall, was shown in a Waukesha Now photo about Waukesha's GuitarTown, as they clear-coated the 10-foot guitars before they were put on display in downtown Waukesha.
- Flight for Life was featured in a Wauwatosa Now story about the training requirements for its pilots, and what it's like to work in such an important, life-saving pilot role.
- If you are a member of the Wisconsin Aviation Hall of Fame, you may have seen a great article in the Spring 2013 issue of Forward in Flight, written by a veteran T-33 pilot, Carroll Rands. The story featured Paul Keppeler who enabled Mr. Rand to go up in his T-33 for a blast from the past, and even let him fly it for a while, a wonderfully generous gesture.
If you see a story about people from the airport out in the community, please be sure to tell us about it so we can share it with everyone!
