Speaking of Noël Coward: Interviews by Alan Farley
Edited by Ron Lazar

Published September 11, 2013 by AuthorHouse, this wonderful book -- edited and produced by NCS member Ron Lazar -- is a tribute to the life and work of Alan Farley, notably his extensive and insightful interviews of people who were close to Noël Coward.

Available in hardcover and paperback from booksellers, as well as in Kindle format from Amazon at  amazon.com  and amazon.co.uk .

From the 1970's to 2012, Alan Farley thrived in radio broadcasting as producer and announcer, briefly at KPFA, and for 27 years at KALW --NPR radio stations in the San Francisco Bay area. Each year for 30 years, on a day close to Coward's birthday (December 16th), Alan broadcast a tribute with music and commentary.

Alan's enthusiasm for all things Noël Coward guided him on a twenty-year expedition to interview people who had been close to Coward - a unique achievement that brings Coward alive in intimate detail.  Starting with 500,000+ words of unedited interviews on tape, Lazar transcribed and distilled the essence of Farley's interviews into thirty fascinating memories of The Master.

Ron Lazar

The August and November 2013 issues of
Home Chat include excerpts from this fine book, augmented with photos of the interviewee and notes by John Knowles and Dominic Vlasto. More excerpts are planned for Home Chat in 2014.

Quoting Ron's introduction -- which mentions the joy and encouragement Alan derived from Coward's work, especially his music --  "Noël was there for Alan, with a heart and a sense of humor, even when there were bad times just around the corner."

Thanks to Ron, Speaking of Noël Coward keeps Alan's work alive for us, with his heart and his sense of humor.
