Scott Garrett, U.S. Congressman for the 5th District of New Jersey shot out an e-mail on August 26th saying that the Congressional Budget Office had reported that our national debt is spiraling out of control even faster than we thought. There is no such thing as "Government Money", only our money! When the government is not printing it, they are borrowing it. If you think it is bad now, it will only be worse for future generations. Who do you expect will pay for free tuition for all, more healthcare subsidies, two chickens in every pot -- ooops, I am dating myself. You and I have to live within our means and there has never been a free lunch. The next time you are promised a tax rebate or anything else remember YOU paid for it!

an "Economic Stimulus". The concept was explained in a Q & A format.
Q. What is an "Economic Stimulus"payment?
A. It is money that the Federal Government will send to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen of it.
Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to pay for a high definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up!
What follows next is helpful advice on how to best help the U.S. Economy by spending your stimulus check wisely. Remember if you spend it at Wal-Mart it will go to China or Sri Lanka; if you spend it on gasoline it will go to Saudi Arabia; if you purchase a computer India, Taiwan or China will benefit;
if you buy fruits and vegetables, the money goes to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala; if you buy an efficient car Japan or Korea gets it; if you pay off your credit cards or buy stock it will go towards management bonuses which they will hide offshore. What to do? Keep the money in America! Spend it at yard sales, go to ball games, get manicures and pedicures, lavish it on trollops, beer and tattoos. These are the only businesses still operating in the United States or haven't you noticed?
While you are thinking about that, let's push for term limits or more. It was P.J. O'Rourke who said, "Term limits aren't enough, we need jail."

PS: On June 24, 2016, Caterpillar and Wacker Neuson announced a strategic alliance. Silica Dust Exposure Is Deadly But Preventable---Beware!
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in America's workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. The rule is comprised of two standards, one for Construction and one for General Industry and Maritime.
OSHA estimates that the rule will save over 600 lives and prevent more than 900 new cases of silicosis each year, once its effects are fully realized. The Final Rule is projected to provide net benefits of about $7.7 billion, annually.
About 2.3 million workers are exposed to respirable crystalline silica in their workplaces, including 2 million construction workers who drill, cut, crush, or grind silica-containing materials such as concrete and stone, and 300,000 workers in general industry operations such as brick manufacturing, foundries, and hydraulic fracturing, also known as fracking. Responsible employers have been protecting workers from harmful exposure to respirable crystalline silica for years, using widely-available equipment that controls dust with water or a vacuum system.
Key Provisions
- Reduces the permissible exposure limit (PEL) for respirable crystalline silica to 50 micrograms per cubic meter of air, averaged over an 8-hour shift.
- Requires employers to: use engineering controls (such as water or ventilation) to limit worker exposure to the PEL; provide respirators when engineering controls cannot adequately limit exposure; limit worker access to high exposure areas; develop a written exposure control plan, offer medical exams to highly exposed workers, and train workers on silica risks and how to limit exposures.
- Provides medical exams to monitor highly exposed workers and gives them information about their lung health.
- Provides flexibility to help employers - especially small businesses - protect workers from silica exposure.
Compliance Schedule
Both standards contained in the final rule take effect on June 23, 2016, after which industries have one to five years to comply with most requirements, based on the following schedule:
Construction - June 23, 2017, one year after the effective date.
General Industry and Maritime - June 23, 2018, two years after the effective date.
Hydraulic Fracturing - June 23, 2018, two years after the effective date for all provisions except Engineering Controls, which have a compliance date of June 23, 2021.
The consequences for a worker exposed to silica dust can be fatal and for the employer, very expensive. OSHA fines will start at $12,800 per day and go up. For saw cutting t he American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) recommends airflow of 25 cubic feet per minute (CFM) per inch of blade diameter (ACGIH, 2007).
