Father Alex, at our church's mass a couple of weeks ago, started his homily with a story. He told us about a priest walking down the street who saw a small boy standing on his tippy toes, trying to ring a door bell.  Wanting to be a big help, the priest went over, reached out and gave the door bell a long, hard push. Then, smiling down at the boy, he said, "Now what do we do?"
       The little boy answered, RUN!"
       Father Alex's sermon went off on a different direction from the  point I have in mind but I thought it was a good introduction to this editorial.
       For far too long our elected officials have been running from issues, kicking the can down the road and pushing off the consequences of their actions to a time when they will be long gone, not to be held accountable and leaving the resulting mess for future generations. As just one example,   it is not possible to spend more than one makes, not in business. Further, you cannot pay debts by printing more money. Well, you and I can't and neither can our government, not forever.  Someday, and that day is very near, the "Chickens will come home to roost", per Oma, again.
       Another question to ask is, what has happened to our Constitution? It says that only Congress can make laws yet agency bureaucrats  issue regulations with fines and penalties in thousands of pages every year.  And the Courts decide on questions outside of their jurisdiction too often. Nor do I have to do more than mention the, "I have a pen and a phone" statement that covers Executive Orders.
       Feeling unrepresented? Me too. Speak up, speak out and vote before it is too late! All I want is my country back, don't you?
