Greetings!
Our lives are being distorted by the Social Media --- Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, not to mention all those others I have managed to ignore. It is bad enough, in my opinion, that people no longer pick up the phone to have a conversation, not when they can text or Tweet. We are intentionally isolating ourselves and why? Germs do not pass over the phone any more than they do over the internet. I'm not saying it is a conspiracy---- yet, but I do wonder. What is causing me to rant? This time it is about "Like"-ing and "Friend"-ing and "Connect"-ing! It all just seems meaningless and insincere. Okay, I will admit to being of an earlier generation, actually I go back several generations, but it was not always this way. It isn't a change for the better. Some of you reading this may consider me out of date and a fuddy-duddy (that phrase should prove it) but real friends are made with a lot more than a mouse click and collecting "Likes" is of no consequence in my world. When I "connect" I try to do it in person.
I know, I know, we asked you to "Like" us if you like us above but that is to show just how trendy we are. Plus Google Analytics says it is important in our rankings. Apparently some faceless entity with too much time on its hands is keeping score.
Well, that doesn't work for me. Where I come from a friend is someone who will bail you out of jail and a best friend is the one sitting next to you saying, "Boy, that was fun!"
Call me a curmudgeon, out of touch, a throwback --- but say it to my face or call, don't Text or Tweet!
