Greetings!
Believe it or not, I have found that there is life outside of the time I spend at Gamka and I am a member of several other organizations. Some are social, some service, some hobbies --- if you can classify a harmonica ensemble and a motorcycle club that way. Anyway, regardless of the theme, there seem to be those members who lead and do, those who participate or just attend and a small number of members who find criticizing preferable to contributing. That last part always makes me wonder why. The old adage, "No good deed goes unpunished", is too often proven true. Membership in organizations is voluntary. Some members go beyond paying dues, showing up at meetings and eating the refreshments. There are people in charge who attend to the affairs of running the institution. The officers and directors get nothing for their labor, they do it as a service. If there is money earned it goes right to the Treasury, not a penny do they get for their work. Are the comings and goings of the body chronicled in a newsletter? That writing takes time and the pulling of teeth to get contributions. Ask me how I know! And does anyone get a drop of gratitude? No, usually nothing or even worse--- lambasting. Instead of damning individuals for their efforts on behalf of the association, it would be so much more beneficial to assist. Volunteers are hard enough to come by, they do not need to be persecuted for being helpful. Suppose no one took leadership roles? Where would the alliance be? Most of the time there would be no purpose, no agenda, no newsletter, no website, no meeting place, no refreshments, no camaraderie, no advancement of the cause, no money, and eventually nothing at all. Being a part of any organization's membership is not something one is forced to do. It is much like watching TV, if it is so onerous to view, change the channel, turn it off, go away. When it comes to being part of a group, I try to apply the slogan of my long ago days as a Boy Scout: Do a good turn daily. At the very least, do no harm. And that is my opinion. Like belly buttons, we all have one.

CHAIN SAW SEMINAR REGISTRATION NOW OPEN
Think you know all there is to know about using a chain saw? Read this testimonial sent to trainer Cary Shepherd after the class....
November 15, 2012
Cary, After 30 years in business I can tell you that today's class was one of the most informative, entertaining, well run, enthusiastic training sessions I have ever attended. I learned more today than I have in a long long time. This, unlike many educational sessions did not focus on making money, it focused on keeping me and alive! I can honestly say that you may have saved my life today. Implementing what I learned and utilizing the techniques demonstrated will create a certain up-tick in our already existent culture of safety. From the history of Husqvarna to the use of the great tools and gadgets, I couldn't get enough. I usually walk away with something new learned from every class I take. Today was an all time high. You were even educating during the breaks!!! It was blatantly obvious that your audience was completely absorbed in the subject matter and thoroughly enjoyed the class. Never a dull moment, constant important information. In closing, I would like to thank you, Husqvarna, and the guys at Gamka for a most enjoyable day. The pleasure was all mine. Most sincerely, Patrick D. Donovan President/Owner, Classic Landscaping 178 Hoover Ave.
