Wolff Luffing Crane at Work on Three World Trade Center Site in NYC

The World Trade Center complex will include five skyscrapers, and once completed, the buildings that will create a frame around the 9/11 Memorial. This summer, Federated Crane Co. set up a Wolff 700 B US at Three World Trade Center (3 WTC) for a steel construction company. The luffing crane is the first Wolff model in New York City.

In late September, North America's top crane operators convened at the Crane Operator & Rigger Championship in Louisville, Ky., to battle for the National Champion title and the grand prize of $10,000. A challenging course, limited visibility due to rain, and an unfamiliar crane made the event one of the toughest for the 14 crane operator competing in the event.

The fourth national championship was hosted by Crane & Rigging Hot Line and Crane Institute Certification with a mission to emphasize the need for safe crane operation, which can only be achieved through training and experience.
