Salmon in Washington state get a lift across Cushman dams

When Tacoma Power re-licensed Cushman Dams 1 and 2, the Washington Department of Natural Resources mandated the restoration of the spawning migration for salmon living in the lake. Since both dams block the salmon's path up and downstream, they need some help getting around these barriers.

Call for Speakers: CRC Canada 2015

CRC Canada 2015 is calling for speakers. The conference, which will take place Nov. 9-10 at the Marriott River Cree, is an independent crane, rigging, and hoist conference that's been developed for safety and risk managers, crane and rigging supervisors, lift directors, fleet managers, project managers, production managers, and crane owners working with cranes in construction and heavy industry.

 

The event organizer, Crane & Rigging Hot Line and Lift & Hoist International, is seeking crane and rigging and HSE subject matter experts to make 60-minute presentations or 90-minute workshops on topics such as:

  • Craft Labor Shortages, qualifying workers, best practices for training programs;
  • Harmonization of hoisting and rigging standards across Canada -Practical and cost-effective methods for managing compliance, increasing productivity; 
  • Operating and maintaining equipment with Tier 4 engines in cold-weather climates; or
  • Accident data and accident prevention.
