When I first learned it was my turn to put the next officer's letter together, we were all on the verge of going over the "fiscal cliff." Now, just six weeks later, we can all safely say we haven't even heard that phrase mentioned until I jogged your memory, and the latest news is all about a meteorite blast over Russia. Those that know me know I'm a travel nut, and I've visited some interesting cliffs like Devil's Tower, the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Zion, Yellowstone, the Cliff Walk in Newport, and the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland, not to mention some interesting slopes in Denali and Glacier National Parks, the Gulfoss in Iceland or the Icefields Parkway in Alberta, Canada. I always managed to keep a safe distance from the edge. Never did I imagine I'd spend New Year's Eve falling over a cliff. [...]

LAN Partners with Occupations, Inc. for Boys' Home Renovation
LAN recently partnered with Occupations, Inc., a Hudson Valley based human service provider, to help renovate one of its children's group homes. The work needed to make the house into a HOME is being undertaken by a group of community volunteers, who all share one vision for this capital project - to create safe, comfortable home environments for the youth in Occupations' care. Plans were immediately put in place to relocate the residence for boys to a renovated farmhouse in Pine Bush, New York. [...]

Project Spotlight: Don Bosco Sports Facility Improvements
LAN recently completed the design of two major improvements at the sports facilities at Don Bosco Preparatory School in Ramsey, N.J. Don Bosco has nationally ranked football and baseball teams as well as many acclaimed academic programs. The improvements were divided into three stages.
