Valley United Way and the Derby-Shelton Rotary Team Up to Promote Unique Project | Our "farmers" pictured with Rotarian Ernie Luise and Home Depot staff members Steve Clark and Byron Mayorga as they picked up their tools, seeds and plants for this year's project. |
Last year Valley United Way was part of a unique collaborative that helped local food banks with an emergency grant of $24,000 to get them through a period of major shortages. Building on that experience, Valley United Way and the Derby-Shelton Rotary Club are partnering on a "hands-on" project that they expect to make a major difference in many lives. On a near perfect night at the Sports Center of Connecticut, CDW-G's Tap Tap Tap It In did not need too many taps on its way to a convincing eight stroke win over fellow CDW-G team Woogies for the 2013 Corporate Cup Mini-Golf Crown. BIC was nearly as good as their Fearless Foursome and Nineteenth Hole teams finish third and fourth respectively. Barnum Financial rounded out the top five.
Geoff Bertkau of the winning team had the lowest single score of the day with a 39 which was one stroke better than Griffin Hospital's Lori Murphy and two strokes better than BIC's Christian Keator. His teammates on the winning team were Brian Harris, Robert Rygiel and Michael Durand.
