$24,000 Donated to Alleviate Food Shortage

Joseph Pagliaro, Jr., Kimberly Tabb, Bob Scinto, Jamie Cohen, Jack Walsh and Fred Ortoli are all smiles after announcing a very special grant.

A severe shortage of food at local food banks has been alleviated by a unique funding collaborative that quickly turned a $24,000 grant to six of the food banks/pantries into adequately stocked shelves prior to the holidays. The shortage was driven by a large increase in demand rather than a drop-off in food donations.

Hurricane Sandy Recovery

Valley United Way's focus is generally on our local community. However, the enormity of the disaster affecting Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and other areas of the east coast requires both a local and regional response.

Throughout the storm and the aftermath, we have been posting information about the storm and resources for those affected by it, including information about places to donate and volunteer that will have an immediate impact. Please visit our website for more information.

Campaign Update

It's Annual Community Campaign time at Valley United Way. We have completed some great campaigns, several are under way as we speak, and there's still time for you to get involved. Campaign is the most important work that Valley United Way does each year because that is how all the programs supported by United Way get funded.

Our staff makes it fun and easy for any company to participate and give back to the community. All you have to do is contact Jack Walsh or Sara German at United Way, and they'll put things together for you immediately.
