Alma College to Launch Four-Year Nursing Program!
Alma College has passed a critical hurdle in launching an innovative four-year nursing degree program that emphasizes the development of creative problem-solving and interpersonal skills in addition to nursing fundamentals. The Michigan State Board of Nursing granted initial approval to Alma for a bachelor of science in nursing program. The decision on final approval will follow a site visit to ensure that the college has the necessary facilities and clinical partners.

Students serving - near you?
Alma College students will embark on 10 alternative break service experiences over the holiday and winter breaks, varying from building homes and disaster relief to immigration issues and civil rights.
"The face-to-face interactions with the people we're helping is the best part of alternative breaks," says West Branch senior Lauren Steinhurst. "Seeing a smile on their faces is the best part of any day."
Locations for the upcoming December 15-21 trips are:
* Affordable Housing: Habitat for Humanity, Elizabethtown, Ky.
Students will assist in building safe and affordable homes for economically disadvantaged families.
* Disaster Relief (faith based): Brigantine, N.J.
Students will assist with cleanup efforts in an area affected by Hurricane Sandy.
* Urban Poverty: Center for the Homeless South Bend, Ind.
Students will volunteer at the center as needed, including serving meals, tutoring school children and sorting clothing donations.
* Hunger/Homelessness: The Pilgrimage, Washington, D.C.
Students will partner with various urban agencies responding to the hungry and the homeless.
* Keeping it in the Mitten: Cass Community Social Services, Detroit.
Students may select this Michigan service option as Alma College develops partnerships within inner-city Detroit.

Admissions Update
Teaching in Uganda and Ukraine. Serving in hospitals in Sierra Leone. Volunteering in the hill tribes of Northern Thailand. Interning with Food for the Hungry in Rwanda. All of these experiences were made possible for our students through the Posey Global Leadership Program.
The Alma College Admissions Office is co-hosting the Posey Global (P-Global) Leadership Dinner on Friday, Dec. 6th, showcasing students who have taken advantage of our P-Global Scholarship, which funds internships and research focusing on global issues.
If you know a high school senior who is interested in service, travel, and/or gaining a global perspective, please RSVP with their name and the number of guests by contacting Madeleine Randolet at 1-800-321-ALMA or [email protected].
We welcome your referrals! To refer a student, please complete the alumni referral form HERE. The student will start receiving Alma information right away and will be contacted by their admissions representative.
Students can come during the week to attend class, meet with a faculty member or coach, tour campus, eat in Hamilton Commons, and sit down with their admissions representative to discuss the application and financial aid process. We also offer group visits on select Saturdays. To schedule a visit, please call 1(800)321-ALMA.
Happy Thanksgiving!
