Office of Alumni Engagement
Boy, we've had a wet April on campus, as I know many of you have experienced as well. We saw some near-record levels of rain that caused school and road closures in the city of Alma, but the College fared very well through the flooding.
As always, the April wetness isn't just in the rain (and snow!) we've gotten this month, but also in the tears demonstrating a mixture of happiness and sadness as we congratulate - and send off - our newest group of alumni. Springtime brings a time of closure for students at all levels of school even as the season promotes new growth.
Best wishes to you as we (hopefully!) transition from the April showers to May flowers!

Four More Finalists, Two More Confirmed Fulbrights...
Alma College has four more Fulbright finalists this year: Andrea Bouwhuis, Chelsea Duff, Kaitlyn Gordon and Jon Haley.
We have recently heard that both Andrea and Chelsea have been awarded Fulbright scholarships for their plans in Spain and South Korea respectively, and more awards could still be forthcoming.

Dr. Grimnes retires...
Although we are sad to see her leave, we must also celebrate another kind of graduation with our colleague, Dr. Kay Grimnes. After 27 years of teaching at Alma, Kay is retiring to pursue some of her other passions.
Dr. Kay Grimnes at her retirement reception with Provost Michael Selmon
Kay has been an integral member of the biology faculty and, as the only female biologist, has been an important role model for young women interested in science. She enthusiastically shared her passion for research with each class of students. She has been an advocate for the developmental student advising model and served as a mentor for many new faculty as they learned advising responsibilities. We will miss her excitement and creativity but we wish her well as she moves into this new stage of her life!

Greetings from Admissions!
With the May 1st National Deposit Deadline fast approaching, many students are making their final decisions for the fall.
Over the past two weeks we have received over 70 deposits from future students - and the numbers continue to rise!
Outreach to juniors and sophomores is in full swing, so if you know of any great students that would be a great Alma fit, please send them our way.

Sr. Assist. Dir. of Admissions
We're posting some great stats this spring, most notably in our women's lacrosse (in it's second season!) and softball teams, even with all of the events that have been rained out and rescheduled.

Softball (8-2 league, 18-8 overall)
