Now is the time to think about it: Is there someone you know who could be our first recipient of the St. Joseph College Alumnae Association Scholarship at Mount St. Mary's University?
As you may remember, first preference will be given to a candidate who has a relationship or meaningful connection to an alumna of St. Joseph College. The relationship does not have to be a blood connection but the candidate must verify his/her relationship to an alumna of St. Joseph College.
Because of your generosity thus far, we are pleased to announce that the first scholarship will be awarded for the 2015-2016 Academic Year, beginning in September, 2015. But the process starts soon... this January. If you know someone who might be eligible, now is the time to alert them to look for the announcement of the scholarship and the application deadline; both will be communicated at Mount St. Mary's University in January to all who are eligible.
So, you ask, who is eligible? Any undergraduate rising junior or senior currently at the Mount or who has been accepted as a transfer student at the Mount for the junior or senior year is eligible. The candidate must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate financial need, and present a letter of recommendation from a faculty member at the Mount or another accredited institution.
Remember, you need not be related to the person but you do need to verify a relationship with her/him. It could be the grandchild of a friend, colleague, or neighbor or a student who attends the Mount whom you have encountered in your travels. Let them know about the scholarship and that you are willing to verify your relationship with them if they are otherwise eligible. More information is available on our scholarship page.
We are eager to announce our first recipient at the Breakfast and Annual Meeting on March 22, 2015 during our Annual Reunion, March 19-22, 2015. We hope it is someone you know!
