Dear Diocesan Family,
I know the recent decision by President Trump to suspend the refugee resettlement program and his restrictions on immigration are deeply concerning to many of us. In my opinion, while keeping America's borders strong is an important issue, turning our backs on people fleeing from violence is not the way to do this. This decision is both unchristian and un-American, and a violation of the basic Old Testament values of how the people of God are to respond to the stranger.
I have recently learned from a colleague in the House of Bishops that there is a way for us to make our voices heard on this issue. If you are interested in speaking out, take a look at the 2x4 Fight for Refugees Campaign launched by the Episcopal Public Policy Network. EPPN is a ministry of the Episcopal Church's Office of Government Relations.
Please keep refugees, their families, and our president in your prayers.
Faithfully,
+Holly
