Chairman Chris Luna: Wrapping up the year of Relevance
When people ask me about my involvement with the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, I tell them how proud I am to be part of an organization that cares so much about the well-being of its members, its community and the local business environment. I am convinced we have the hardest working, most dedicated staff and volunteers of any Chamber out there. They work tirelessly to make our Chamber the five-star organization it is.

Chamber to host candidate forum Jan. 23
The Richardson Chamber will be co-hosting a Republican candidate forum for Texas House District 102 with the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Prestonwood Country Club. All four Republican candidates have been invited to the forum, which is open to the public.

Tech companies find a home through the Chamber's Metroplex Technology Business Council
Richardson has a long history with technology, even spawning the Telecom Corridor. In the 90s, the interest in technology spurned a committee that eventually was rebranded as a tech association that encompasses all of North Texas. The Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC), housed out of the Chamber offices, is the largest technology trade association in Texas, representing a quarter million employees through its 300 member companies.

Tech sector the focus of session with Marseilles, France
The Mayor's Office of International Business Development partnered with a delegation from Marseilles, France to host a reception recently at the Eisemann Center. "A Taste of Provence" featured food and wine from the south of France and allowed local officials and business leaders to learn about many of the technology companies around Marseilles.

City Council approves Palisades zoning change request
At its December meeting, the Richardson City Council approved ZF 13-13, a zoning change request regarding the 58.5-acre Palisades area of Richardson. Palisades is west of Central Expressway and bound by Palisades Parkway, North Collins Boulevard and Palisades Creek Drive. Zoning was changed from local retail/technical office to planned development of a pedestrian-oriented, mixed-use development. JP Realty Partners plans to construct additional offices, retail and multi-family residential buildings on the property.
