REDP wins gold medal as highest performing economic development organization for a community its size    

 

The Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP), a joint initiative of the Richardson Chamber and city of Richardson, recently was named the gold medal winner in the High Performance Economic Development category for economic development organizations.

Survey says Richardson businesses growing and hiring

55% say business has grown in last 6 months; 81% are satisfied with Chamber and would recommend

 

Business appears to be booming in Richardson. In a recent study commissioned by the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, 55 percent of Richardson businesses say their business has grown during the last six months, while 36 percent said their business had remained stable and nine percent said business was contracting.

Chamber to host public policy meetings in November and December  

            

With the upcoming legislative session, the Richardson Chamber will be hosting two public policy meetings in the coming months. The first will be held Friday, Nov. 30. The keynote speaker will be Phil Wilson, executive director the Texas Department of Transportation.

Richardson Young Professionals bonding over latest flick        

 

RYP has been doing more than happy hours and service projects these days. Recently the group met for a buy-your-own lunch at Chamber member Soulman's Bar-B-Que. On Monday, new Chamber member Studio Movie Grill at Spring Valley sprung for a free showing of the latest James Bond thriller "Skyfall." RYP membership is $90 and pays for free admission to RYP events, one bring a guest pass, and access to the mentorship program. Watch for upcoming events to get involved.

RCC 25th Annual Golf Classic helps business leaders connect               

The Richardson Chamber held its milestone 25th annual Golf Classic on Oct. 5 at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson. The sold-out event and perfect weather gave 131 golfers the chance to build relationships in a laid-back setting. An awards reception was held at the Hyatt Regency hotel following the golf event.

Alamo Drafthouse breaks ground on Richardson property

 

Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas celebrated the official ground breaking of its very first Dallas-area location Oct. 23, in the Richardson Heights shopping at Beltline Road and Central Expressway. The Richardson facility will be a state-of-the-art location with seven screens.

Local trade mission heads to China 

On Oct. 24 a delegation of 25 north Texas Chinese business executives departed on a three-week trade mission to mainland China. Scheduled stops include visits to four cities including Xuzhou (Jaingsu Province), Hefei (Anhui Province), Huizhou (Guangdong Province), and Pingdingshan (Henan Province).

Chamber Legislative Day set for March 5, 6

 

Every other year, during the Texas legislative session, the Chamber hosts a trip to Austin where attendees can meet senators and representatives about the Chamber's legislative agenda. The trip is open to both members and non-members. Save the date for March 5 and 6, 2013. More information will be available as plans get firmed up.
