It Was an Awesome Auction
| Thank you, everyone!
ERU's second annual "DOG DAYS of SUMMER" auction is a wrap. And through the generous support of so many, the auction raised an amazing $13,000!
We at ERU, along with all the R'Eskies and the future "Eskies in Need," extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this auction such a success:
Those who generously donated items.
Everyone who bid on all 650+ (whew!) auction items.
All who shared the auction posters, and a special
thank you to Freda Potter for creating them.
The auction vendor team, who began contacting vendors in February to request their support. Special thanks to Brooke Ortlieb for heading up this team.
Everyone who helped coordinate the auction, offered suggestions, created the auction newsletter and some of the auction album pictures, and everyone who shared the auction items, posters, and newsletters with every person they know!
A very special "thank you" to Helping Paws, Inc., who coordinated and ran this auction for us.
Last, but certainly not least, ERU cannot give thanks enough to Dyan Laphan, our Fundraising Coordinator, who took on the lion's share of the work for this auction. Eskie kisses and human hugs to Dyan!
It truly takes a village, and this auction would have never come together without each and every one of you. Without you, we could never continue to save as many Eskies as we do!

Our Donors
|
We couldn't have done it without you!
So many individuals and businesses generously donated the more-than 650 auction items. Thank you all so much!

"Rugged Maniac" Runs for R'Eskies
|
ERU adopter runs to benefit long-term fosters
Stacey, loving adopter of R'Eskie Louis Luigi, is running the Rugged Maniac event at High Point Farm in Maryland, on Nov. 1, 2014. She is tackling this obstacle course to benefit our senior and special-needs Eskies in long-term foster care. Every step and each of the more-than 25 epic obstacles Stacey overcomes are dedicated to these special Eskies. Ones like Joseph and Lightning, who will remain in foster care for their lifetimes. (See their stories below.) All sponsorship funds raised by Stacey will go toward the medical needs of these beautiful Eskies and others like them who are long-term fosters.
Your contributions will motivate Stacey as she trains for this rugged 5K race with 25-plus challenging obstacles that include fire, underground tunnels of mud, and more.
You can sponsor Stacey via donations through PayPal, using the link below.
Stacey and the Eskies thank you for your support!
Say "Hi" to Joseph
A 10-ish-year-old Eskie who turned up as stray on Long Island, NY, Joseph was placed with ERU in September. He was in rough shape. While it was no surprise that Joseph didn't see or hear well, due to his age, it was clear that someone had once taken good care of him. Then had let him get away. Joseph had significant mobility challenges, unable to stay upright on smooth flooring, go up or down stairs, or use a ramp. He needed to be carried, and when picked up, he jerked about. Joseph was found to have a degenerative neurological condition. Some rescues might have euthanized him. But through the support of ERU and the loving care of his foster mom, Suzanne, this precious boy will spend the rest of his days safe and sound in his foster home.
Joseph's foster mom reports that his health has improved, and he's surrounded by a family (human
and canine) who adore him. Read more about Joseph here.

Meet Lightning
Love Bug
Greetings to all from the new and soon-to-be-improved, 11-year-young Lightning Love Bug! Lightning is a miniature Eskie who was rescued literally in the nick of time by ERU. She is now living happily with her caring long-term foster mom and dad and her new pack. Lightning has cataracts and glaucoma, and can't see. But she still gets around very well. In need of major vet care when rescued, she had to have blood work and needed antibiotics. She needs tooth extractions, and was found to have a heart murmur. Despite this little gal's physical issues, she's so happy in her new foster home! She "chatters" when mom and dad play with her and rub her tummy. She will nuzzle her people when she wants more! This little bug loves her smoothie food and and cleans her bowl at every meal! Read more about this sweet girl here.
