Lake Stevens Community Park receives Washington Recreation and Parks Association award
The Washington Recreation and Parks Association (WRPA) Resource Section recently awarded Snohomish County's Lake Stevens Community Park the 2012 Best Sports Complex Design for small cities.
Lake Stevens Community Park is an excellent example of what can be achieved through the cooperation, partnership, and long-term planning by public agencies, stakeholder groups and local citizens. The great partnership with the Lake Stevens Jr. Athletic Association (LSJAA) representing soccer, baseball, football and cheerleading groups and the general community led to a great park design and ongoing partnerships for the maintenance and operation of Lake Stevens Community Parks' facilities. |
Sandy Hale, new special recreation coordinator Sandy became passionate about people with physical/developmental challenges about five years ago when she realized she could learn more from them about how to live a happy and full life. Her goal for Snohomish County's Special Recreation Program is to partner with other programs in the area who advocate for people with special challenges to create daily opportunities, easy access and affordable events so that they can come together and share life's little adventures. Sandy is a Para-Educator for the Mukilteo School District in their Life Skills program and works primarily with students ages 14-21 with multiple disabilities. She is married with two grown children and a beautiful granddaughter. Originally from California, Sandy and her husband relocated to Washington at the end of 2011. |
