McCollum Park Outdoor Pool
officially opens Saturday, June 23

Many new programs have been added to this year's pool schedule, including four-week learn-to-swim sessions, which meet two times per week for increased family flexibility. Fees for some of our open swim, swim lessons, swim team, season passes, pool rentals and more have been reduced by nearly 20 percent. Register online for swim lessons here.

Summer Art Camps
Art teacher Verondi Havens is back with some really great art day camps all summer long at Willis Tucker Community Park. Camps include Artists' Choice, Wacky Art, Nature Discovery, Creative Construction, Merging Science into Art, Merging Science and Math into Art, Build a Boat, Fantastic Fiber, Drama in the Park 1, Popular Paper Mache, Drama in the Park 2, Discovery Painting, Drawing and Painting, Portraits and Mask Making. Comments needed for Comprehensive Park & Recreation Plan
The Parks & Recreation Department needs public input on the direction reflected in its draft six-year Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan. When completed, the updated plan will provide direction to the department as it plans for new facilities and manages existing parks. A second public meeting to gather comments will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 6 in Public Meeting Room 2 of the County Administration-East building in Everett (3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett). Bob Leonard receives Washington Recreation and Parks Association award
Members of the Washington Recreation and Parks Association (WRPA) Resource Section awarded Snohomish County Park Department Maintenance Supervisor Bob Leonard its 2012 Resource Section Outstanding Professional of the Year award.
Presented at the annual WRPA conference in May, the award recognizes outstanding parks field staff for going above and beyond their normal work responsibilities to make a positive contribution to their community.
Bob served as the Resource Section chair in 2011 and was instrumental in creating a scholarship available to parks field staff statewide to attend the Pacific Northwest Resource Management School in Port Townsend each year.

Thrasher's Corner Pub 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
Thrasher's Corner Pub & Grill will host its annual benefit golf tournament at Gleneagle Golf Course in Arlington, beginning 8 a.m. Saturday, July 14, with a shotgun start. Proceeds benefit Snohomish County Parks & Recreation's Helping Hands Program, which supports the department's youth programs and swim lessons for underprivileged children.
Lunch is served at Thrasher's Corner Pub & Grill. Prizes are awarded to the winning team, longest drive, ladies' longest drive, closest to the pin and ladies' closest to the pin. Find more information at www.thrasherscornerpub.com or 425-481-0211. |
