Glacial Erratic at ML APGlacial erratic at Martha Lake Airport Park rescued
The glacial erratic at Martha Lake Airfield Community Park has long been used as a local youth hangout and tagged by graffiti, as well as used as a climbing rock. By the time the park opened in 2010, it was apparent that "Big Rock," as it is often called, would need ongoing care and cleanup. Park Rangers and maintenance staff spent two days in February cleaning the glacial erratic with a pressure washer combined with a graffiti remover for oil-based paints and installed an interpretive sign. Renovation of North Creek Park boardwalk open for public useN Creek Boardwalk
An incredible ¾-mile walking adventure, the main boardwalk at North Creek Park is a lot safer with the renovation of more than 150 sections of floating trail. More work is planned later this year. The trail has been closed for public use when sections of the boardwalk began sinking during the past several years, leaving visitors with wet, cold feet and an experience maybe a little too adventurous.

The boardwalk can again provide a wonderful opportunity to experience the rich diversity of a wetland environment, including seeing and hearing hundreds of birds and wildlife who call this wetland home. Read rest of story at www.snocoparks.org.

Murder mystery food bank fundraiser successfulfood barrel clipart

The Parks/Fair Department's murder mystery dinner and silent auction raised $3,458.59 - $704.59 more than in 2011. The funds were split with four local food banks: Sultan, Sky Valley (Monroe), Maltby and Snohomish.

During the 2011 Fair, 33,000 items totaling 48,500 pounds of food was collected and distributed to Snohomish County food banks.

We can be sure that a lot of needy people will get food to feed their families - thanks to your generosity! If you didn't donate this year, consider supporting our efforts for next year - or send your local food bank a check this month.
