Riding Full Speed Over the Ruts
 Every now and again Bill and I go through a bumpy time in our relationship. After 16 years and two kids, it's to be expected. Our uneven moments usually show up when his work and my work don't comply with the Only One Stressed Partner at a Time Rule. Or when life throws us a curve ball, like when our younger son broke his leg last summer - right before my family's biennial reunion. Or every year around tax time. And when our relationship isn't smooth, we bicker, don't give each other the benefit of the doubt, and feel disconnected from each other.
During one of our disconnected times, we got help from a couples counselor who recommended The Five Love Languages, a book by Dr. Gary Chapman, and what we learned from Dr. Chapman's work really helped. According to Dr. Chapman, each of us has a primary way that we give and receive love, what he calls our love language. There are five different love languages:
* Physical Touch
* Quality Time
* Words of Affirmation
* Acts of Service
* Gifts
When our partner speaks our love language, we feel more loved by him or her. But if our partner's love language is different from our own, we can feel unsatisfied, unloved, and unhappy. See how this theory plays out in these two (mostly real life) scenarios by heading over to our website.

Six month to seven months old is a perfect time to join a six-day Playgroup Series. When your baby is 13 to 14 months old, take a refresher course to improve your skills and increase your baby's signing vocabulary.
Touch Blue Sky offers two different playgroup series - Playgroup Boom and Playgroup Zoom. No need to take them in order; you can start with either one. Both Playgroups include the essential basic starter signs but vary in the more advanced vocabulary. Visit our website for more details.
