Crab Feast

Head down to Monterey this weekend for the 15th Annual Crab, Wine & Beer Festival January 17-26. The countywide festival is named one of America's Top 10 Seafood and Wine Festivals by Coastal Living. It will feature dozens of special events such  as crab cake cook-offs, wine tasting competitions  and decadent dinners highlighting Dungeness crab  with wine pairings. This event is for the serious  crab lover. 

Snow Go

As the weeks continue to pass with no snow falling in Tahoe, what's a chionophile to do? Go up anyway. Snow is being made on all of the mountains and there are plenty of other snowy activities beyond skiing and boarding. For instance, The Resort at Squaw Creek is offering dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling ice skating and snowshoeing. And for those who need a bit more of the white stuff, hop on the new direct flight from SFO to Sun Valley Idaho. The Sun Valley Ski Resort has more than 60 runs open and at last look on the Sun Valley blog, there seems to be plenty of snowfall. If you book now through March, you will be eligible to save $200 per ticket. Besides the natural snow, the resort is also supplementing with snowmaking machines.
