Well, we've arrived. It's the first week of May and the Hollywood Farmers Market regular season opens this Saturday. That means, in addition to returning to our 8am open time, you can now find us every Saturday until Thanksgiving. Get your shopping bags ready! It's going to be a plentiful Saturday! Asparagus, strawberries, fiddleheads, rhubarb, morels, kale, chard, salad greens, mustards, onions, carrots and beets will line the market this week. Your favorite meat, cheese, egg, bakery and hot food vendors will be their too. We have a number of new products joining the mix this season. This week, you can find heirloom vegetable seeds, locally brewed beer and cider, fresh salsa and handmade chips, camolina oil, Japanese curry and quick pickles, locally distilled spirits and more. And with all this nice weather, don't forget that our market vendors carry a vast variety of vegetable starts and ornamental plants to perfect your home garden. Along with new vendors, we are excited to introduce new events and programs throughout this season. Check out the "At The Market" and "Calendar" pages on our website for more information and updates. As always, we accept Debit & EBT (SNAP/Oregon Trail benefit) cards and we are offering an EBT match, dollar for dollar for the first $5 you spend. And don't forget about our May event, Bike to the Market Day!
Saturday, May 18th is Bike to the Market Day at HFM! Bike to the market that Saturday, pick up your Bike-to-the-Market punch card at the information booth and get your first punch. Get it punched six times and you get discounts at Velo Cult, Hollywood Cycling, and CyclePath! Also, Velo Cult, our neighborhood bike shop, will be at the market that day to check your bikes over and offer a repair diagnostic.
See you at the market!

Hollywood Farmers Market opening day! by Kaia Bolster, Deep Roots Farm

My name is Kaia, I am almost 13, and I live on my family's farm where I raise laying hens. You would think I would have had my fill of farmers markets after attending at least one market each week (in season) throughout my life, but I'm still super excited for the Hollywood Farmers Market! The market is a perfect day trip, full of fun things to do. There's live music, delicious food (including cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, and my personal favorite, ice cream), face painting, and there is even a Halloween parade. Plus the Hollywood Farmers Market staff and volunteers are probably the nicest around. Another awesome thing about Hollywood Farmers Market is that it's not super big and intimidating. It's the perfect size; big enough to fit a HUGE variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, plus plenty good food and drinks you can have on the spot. But it's small enough that it's not a gigantic scavenger hunt to find what's on your shopping list. I have been going to farmers markets since I was a baby and the Hollywood Farmers Market is definitely my all-time favorite. I love everything about it: The buzz of the people coming and going, the smell of strawberries, the cool mist on my face from the sprinkler the Market puts out to cool people on hot days, and the thousands of different colors at the flower booths. I am sure you will have as much fun as I do at the Hollywood Farmers Market. The market starts on May 4th and I promise there will be strawberries! You can find me and my family at Deep Roots Farm!
