Green Building Challenge Newsletter | June 28, 2016

 Welcome
There are currently over 150 businesses participating in the Green Building Challenge (GBC) and  our newest members include: LacedMusic Works1 Day Kitchen, and REMS, Inc.

As summer begins, so does the potential for strain on electrical grids during times of high usage.  To reduce demand during "energy events",  Southern California Edison offers a Summer Discount Plan, which helps customers conserve and provides bill credits. See the article below to learn more.

Also, be sure to save the date for the Challenge Recognition Breakfast on September 28, 2016 at the Automobile Driving Museum!
GBC Featured at Statewide Energy Efficiency Forum
The Green Building Challenge was featured at the 7th Annual Statewide
Energy Efficiency Forum in Riverside, CA on June 15th.  As the first program of its kind in Southern California, the Challenge was presented at a poster session, along with other innovative efficiency programs from across the State.

The Challenge fit well with the theme of the Forum, "Taking a Holistic Approach Toward a Sustainable Future."  By focusing on overall energy efficiency strategies and goals rather than single products, the GBC encourages businesses to adopt a broader view of energy efficiency that allows them to maximize both cost and energy savings.

View the GBC Poster to learn more about how the program promotes energy efficiency in the South Bay.  Forward the poster to a colleague, invite them to join the Challenge, and earn points for Prop E&O-004 and Tenant E&O-008.  Read More.
SCE Summer Discount Plan:
Cycle Your A/C and Earn Bill Credits
Southern California Edison is offering a Summer Discount Plan (SDP) for businesses that could earn you up to $250 in bill credits per A/C unit.

Enroll in the SDP and allow Edison to remotely cycle (or turn off) your central A/C's compressors in response to emergencies or high wholesale energy prices when temperatures rise.  Your fan will continue to run and circulate air, so your customers and employees may not even notice a shift in temperature.  Your participation will earn you bill credits and help reduce the chance of power outages in your community.

The program is completely customizable - you control the settings and the reward.  Enroll and earn points through Tenant ENR-002 or Prop ENR-006 Have questions?  Read More.
