ACTION ALERT

Greetings!

Next week, the Senate HELP Committee will mark up the Animal Drug User Fee Act (ADUFA) and we need your help!

Unfortunately, right now the Committee does not seem compelled to improve this bill, which is very favorable to the drug industry, with any public health provisions. FACT as part of the Keep Antibiotics Working and allied organizations is working hard to put pressure on the Committee to reconsider their stance.

We need your help to convince them that public health should be considered in ADUFA's reauthorization!

Below is a list of senators. If your Senator is on the list, we ask you to call them ASAP. Below you will find a sample script that we recommend when making calls to these key Congressional offices. We include the list of Senators below that urgently need to be contacted TODAY or TOMORROW. Time is of the essence! We are counting on you to make these calls and let them know that drug companies are not the only ones who care about this bill.

Sample script for when you call:

"I'm calling from [ORGANIZATION or HOME TOWN]. I understand that the HELP Committee is considering a proposal to add modest measures to the Animal Drug User Fee Act that would improve transparency about the antibiotics used in food animal production. I am highly concerned about the growing health threat of antibiotic resistance, and therefore strongly support this proposal. I urge the committee to adopt the measures when it marks up ADUFA on the 20th. Do you know whether Senator [XXX] will be able to support such language?"

Thank you for taking action today on this important issue. Share this action alert with your friends, family, and colleagues. We need urgent action taken today and tomorrow!

Sincerely,

Richard Wood
