HITS THEATRE WELCOMES AWARD-WINNING THEATRE PROFESSIONAL TO ARTISTIC TEAM

HITS Theatre is excited to welcome Marley Wisnoski to its artistic team. A director and dramaturge, Marley will fill a much-needed role as the Director of Artistic Productions managing the artistic component of HITS' 7th - 12th grade programming in addition to serving as the Director for our annual performance at Miller Outdoor Theatre.

"As an artist and a proud resident of the Houston Heights, I am very excited to join the team at HITS," Marley said. "My desire has been to promote the theatre in today's society and economy by bringing meaningful theatrical experiences to all people, cross-culturally and cross-generationally. This includes cultivating future theatre practitioners and theatergoers, beginning with instilling the love and understanding of theatre in our children, and I am delighted to have the opportunity at HITS to help make theatre accessible and approachable to students in our community and city."

An accomplished theatre professional, Marley holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre Studies from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama-University of London, as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Performance from Baylor University. Most recently serving as the Associate Artistic Director at Theatre Under the Stars, Marley has extensive experience as a director. Recent credits include The Sweet Potato Queens, Heathers, Bonnie & Clyde, Striking 12, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Director of Artistic Education Santry Rush is thrilled with the addition. "Marley is an excellent addition to the HITS artistic team. She brings valuable expertise in theatre education, artistic integrity, and a passion for children's theatre that will help HITS not only reach its goals, but create an inspired movement for the future."

Marley has also directed and taught at the collegiate level. Her courses included "Intro to Theatre," "The History of the Theatre," and "Film History" and she has developed several theatrical-based workshops for students.

HSPVA AUDITION PREP/COACHING INTENSIVE

Limited to 10 students
$250

Do you have a student preparing to apply to HSPVA's Theatre Department? HITS is pleased to offer a special class designed to ready students for the admissions process. Our Audition Prep and Coaching Program focuses on two key aspects of the application process: Acting and Musical Theatre.

This special class will begin on Friday, November 18 with a group session from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. focusing on the selection and development of a monologue. Students will receive guidance on what to consider when selecting their audition monologue, such as age appropriateness and the performance range of the selection.

A second group session, focused on the vocal portion of the audition, will take place on Friday, December 2 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Students will be coached on song selection, receive instructor critiques, and have an opportunity to work with an accompanist. Following the vocal session, each student will have the opportunity to schedule two 45-minute individual monologue coaching sessions with either Santry Rush or Marley Wisnoski on select dates during December and January.

The program will culminate with a performance/practice opportunity for families and students on Friday, January 13. For more information and to register now, click here.
