The Crew Corner

Describe your favorite frozen food.

Mike Petrik, Art Director
That frozen steak TV dinner we had in the freezer at the office. Ed and I would rotate letting it thaw out, then put it back in the freezer, then thaw out again. This rotation may have gone on for weeks. It was hilarious.

Tracy Granzyk, Managing Director, Healthcare
Hands down: Frozen custard at Custards Last Stand in Door County, WI.

John Courchane, Editor
Frozen bananas. There's always money in the banana stands.

Ed Boe, Director of Photography
Hard and cold.

Kiron Blackwood, SIUC Extern
My favorite frozen food is frozen pizza. Why spend $12 on a Papa John's pizza when I can go to Target and buy their Market Pantry brand for $3? I'm a college student on a budget!

Kyle Keenan, SIUC Extern
I am biased on favoring Italian ice, icees or those red white and blue firecracker popsicles.

Allison Miller, Production Coordinator
White Castle Cheeseburgers. Hahaha. Just kidding.

Michael Kromm, Director of Post Production
Key Lime Pie.

Greg Vass, Executive Producer

SolidLine Crew Heads to the Middle East

Last week, SolidLine co-founders Michael Kromm and Greg Vass and SLM Managing Director of Healthcare Tracy Granzyk jetted over 7,100 miles across the world to Doha, Qatar to produce several exciting production projects. Over the 7 day trip, the crew captured footage and interviews from the first ever Academy for Emerging Leaders in Patient Safety in the Middle East for an upcoming documentary project. Patient safety leaders including Dave Mayer, MD and Tim McDonald, MD joined over 70 medical students and residents for the intense, hands-on patient safety training. In addition to the Academy, the SolidLine crew produced 23 new region-specific episodes of Minute for Medicine for Sidra Medical & Research Center. These short, one-minute patient safety awareness videos will quickly educate Sidra staff on important patient safety and high reliability topics.

"I am so thrilled the SolidLine crew was able to make it to Qatar last week," states Sidra's Clinical Chief of Anesthesiology and Medical Director for Quality and Safety, Tim McDonald. "Our relationship with SolidLine spans nearly a decade and to now be able to expand our reach to the Middle East to develop powerful patient safety content is a wonderful thing. Plus, we had a lot of fun too! I look forward to SolidLine returning later this year to develop more much needed content for this region of the world."

SolidLine Welcomes SIUC Externs for Week-Long Production Experience

Every year, Southern Illinois University Carbondale recruits two awesome students who spend 40 hours working over their Spring Break instead of binge-watching Netflix on the couch (or whatever kids do these days on Spring Break). This year, two Chicago natives joined the SLM crew to learn the nuts & bolts of SolidLine and all the fun benefits of working with a full-service video production company. Both Kiron and Kyle had an action-packed week at SolidLine and were able to do some interviewing in the SLM studio & edit a video for one of our clients. They got a well-rounded production experience and we were happy to have them onboard with us for the week.

"I've got to say, externing at SolidLine truly is a blessing! I enjoyed every second of what I did!" states Kiron. "The office space is gorgeous, the employees are fun to be around and the learning experience is something that is helping me grow immensely."

SLM's March Madness Standings: An Update from Editor John-Boy Courchane

The 2016 March Madness tournament might not be settled for another week, but in our bracket challenge, Ed Boe has pulled off the back to back titles. It was a crazy year full of upsets, buzzer beaters, and buzzer beaters for upsets. We've seen an endless parade of Sad Michael Jordans, Sad Bill Murrays, and one Sad Saxophone Player. It's a cliche to say this was the most insane tournament yet, but this year it actually was. Thanks to everyone who tried to stop the juggernaut that is Ed Boe, and I hope next year we can all do better.

Check out our current standings here!
