SolidLine Hosts Week Long Media Camp In Korce, Albania

In August, SolidLine co-founders Michael Kromm and Greg Vass teamed up with 5 other media professionals to journey over 5,000 miles to Korce, Albania on a mission trip to teach storytelling and video production. The trip was inspired by our friends at Northeast Christian Church in Rockford, IL in an effort to bring both production teaching and tools to Albanians so they can communicate and tell their story through the power of video. The week long media camp, Stories to be Told, featured a curriculum that focused on storytelling, scriptwriting, production planning, cinematography, editing, and distribution. During the week, 30 student participants were taught the production skills using 8 custom media kits that were developed by Kromm, Vass and the rest of the mission team. The media kits included an iPad, movie mount, wide angle lens, microphone, light, tripod, filming and editing software, and a carrying case. The team raised over $7,500 to produce the media kits which were left behind with the participants that showed the most interest.

"I think we made a very positive impact with our Stories to be Told media camp in Albania," states Northeast Christian Church Pastor Malachi Brick. "Being able to assemble such a talented group of production professionals from the states and get them to all donate so much time and effort is impressive. And it wasn't just the week of travel and teaching abroad, we worked for 3 months beforehand meeting every couple weeks to develop our curriculum and raise money for the media kits. It was an excellent effort by all and I am proud of what we accomplished."

SLM Produces 6 Videos In Austin For ASUG
Earlier this month, the SolidLine crew was back with their pals at ASUG for some good ol' fashioned conference filming in Austin, Texas. Over the course of four days, The ASUG SAP Analytics & BusinessObjects Conference, aka SABOC, featured educational sessions, keynote presentations, networking events, and charity competitions -- and SolidLine was right there to film all the action! With over 1,000 IT professional attendees, the conference was a huge success and the 6 videos we produced onsite were a hit.

"As always, SolidLine brought fun ideas to the table and took our conference to the next level with the on-site videos they produced," states Tom Wailgum, VP of Media + Communications at ASUG. "We have such a blast working together, and we know we can count on the SLM crew to deliver exactly what we want. What more could we ask for!?"

Post-Production's First Album Goes Viral
Our motion graphics and editing team have some serious post production chops, we've always known that. But we didn't know about their secret side careers as DJs. Thats right, under the alias "Bastilleus," several members of our Post- Production team put together an inside joke album that was picked up by DIY Magazine, and subsequently retweeted by @BastilleDan himself. Check out the infamous article about the album from DIY Magazine here, and don't forget to give the album a listen in the click-to-play button below!
