"Listen, do you smell something..."
| James Camacho, FCSI, Chair-Elect |
Dan Ackroyd was confused in the movie Ghostbusters, but you won't be after you attend the 2015 FCSI-TA Symposium in Anaheim, CA. on February 17 and 18, just a few short weeks away. Following on the heels of a great conference in Phoenix the FCSI -TA staff and symposium planning committee is excited to offer an expanded Educational Program prior to NAFEM. Themed Stop, Collaborate & Listen, the program kicks off Tuesday night, February 17, with an opening party that will set the tone for the event! Wednesday will be a full day of education, focusing on how consultants can ensure the success of the project and their careers by collaborating with consultants who offer a different expertise. But if you do not register you will be "left out standing in a field", which would be confusing.
After you have spent a day learning and catching up with your consulting friends, it will be time for a little event called NAFEM. We have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with thousands of "close personal friends". It is much more than a gallery of foodservice equipment and supplies. The show provides the perfect opportunity to build new relationships. Daily we interface with members of the Food Service Community that we may never get to personally meet. Now you may have the chance to put a face with the voice and shake a hand. Or maybe you are looking to reconnect with those you haven't seen in a while.
If you have been out standing in a field and have not heard NAFEM is offering the chance to apply for a $500 scholarship. Apply when you register, verify your attendance and you could be eligible to receive the scholarship. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is January 31.
As you walk the isles of the show please remember to say "thank you" to our symposium sponsors. Without our many wonderful sponsors we would have a very difficult time providing our members the professional and affordable events we will enjoy during the week.
I look forward to seeing you in Anaheim,
James Camacho, FCSI

Committee members include Brett Daniel, Chair, Camacho Associates, Mike Wrase, Incoming Chair, Robert Rippe and Associates, Amy Hegarty, FCSI, CID, ASID, CFSP, Foodservice Consultants Studio, A.J. Barker, Think Tank HG/CK+B, Jennifer Murphy, Vision Builders & Design, Garrett Lennon, JLR Design Group, Ian Jameson, FCSI, Board Liaison, Cini-Little International, and Anja Kuechenmeister, Camacho Associates. This past year the ICON committee has been diligently working on a new student chapter initiative with the intent of increasing awareness of and interest in FCSI. To kick off this effort, the committee selected 11 schools (a mix of schools with known programs in design, hospitality and culinary arts) to create programs, scholarships, and competitions for students considering entering the food service industry.
The ICON Committee (Inspiring Consultants through Opportunity and Networking) promotes the participation of new and emerging members of FCSI-TA.
