A Message to FCSI-TA Members from the Chair

Bill Taunton, FCSI, Chair
Bill Taunton, FCSI

Dear fellow members,

Over the last months Ive had the opportunity to talk with several members and manufacturers from different parts of our division, as well as from other divisions about business development in our division and the differences and barriers between North, Central and South America.

The more I talk, the more I realize the different ways we all do business, due in part to codes, rules, legalities, languages, etc. Even when most people think we only speak Spanish and English in our division, in reality our division has four languages -
Spanish, Portuguese, English and French. There are also several other small islands in the Caribbean that speak Dutch and several other native languages here and there.

This reality provides a huge networking opportunity between our divisional members as we should be able to use our contacts and the FCSI networking opportunities to do more, Share more. Support more and Inspire more.

For several years, many of our members on the design side, as well as MAS, have been working together or cross-referencing each other mainly in the US and Canada. Now we can do that between North, Central and South America and between MAS, Design, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and English speaking people too.

This is more and more common as there are many clients in the division as well as outside our division looking to hire experts from different parts of the world. From my perspective this presents an opportunity for us as members of FCSI, the only real worldwide foodservice consultant organization, and we should be able to take advantage of it.

Have a great time sharing, supporting and inspiring other fellow members.

Best regards,

William Taunton, FCSI

The Importance of Maintaining the Most Current Revit Versions

Staying current with the latest Revit versions is important for foodservice designers.  Compatibility with your clients shows that you are invested in your business.  If you are not on the latest version of Revit as your client, you are adding a burden to workflow.  Autodesk is actively adding new features and functions to improve Revit.  Not using the most current version(s) is comparable to driving your old leaded gasoline car.  You can get there but you are causing issues for everyone else around you.  Being on Revit subscription makes the most sense financially.  If you are not on subscription you will have to purchase a new version of Revit when ready to upgrade.  The new versions of Revit are several times more expensive than the subscription pricing.  By staying on subscription with Revit, you save money, you show professional investment and you are always current.

Please take this quick survey to help us better assess the needs of Revit users.
