Fun in the Sun - Conference Wrap-up
|
|
A special thank you to those who were able to join us for our 2014 Conference in Phoenix earlier this month. We had an incredible turnout, with almost 260 total attendees including 110 consultants. The conference planning committee put together an incredible event. Thank you to our volunteers, including Eric Norman, Conference Chair, AJ Barker, Christine Guyott, Ira Kaplan, Andrew Keaggy, Suzanne Painter-Supplee and Kristin Sedej.
Along with the great education planned, we had some fun evening events, starting with fireworks and dueling pianos on opening night, to live music and bull riding; and finishing with a poolside party featuring a DJ and tequila tasting presentation. The evening was capped off with a surprise pool dive by FCSI's Executive Director, Wade Koehler! To see yourself (or to catch a glimpse of all the fun), be sure to check out the conference photos.
We also debuted a few new "actors and actresses" among our membership with some parody videos. To view and enjoy these videos, please visit FCSI-The America's Channel on YouTube.
A special congratulations to our award winners:
FCSI The Americas Service Award - Doug Huber, FCSI
Robert Pacifico "Doing Well by Doing Good" - Jim Petersen, FCSI
FCSI The Americas Product of the Year - CT PROformance Combitherm, Alto Shaam
2012 & 2013 Education Provider of the Year - Hobart
For an extensive recap of the event, please visit our Foodservice Consultant magazine website.

FCSI Educational Foundation Seeks New Board Member
|
As a result of the Educational Foundation President's resignation due to health-related issues, John Cornyn was appointed by the Board to complete his term of office. Nahum Goldberg has been asked to step up into the Secretary-Treasurer's position, which means that the Americas' position is vacant. We highly encourage members to apply, especially those who appreciate how high quality educational opportunities can improve their lives as consultants as well as attract others to consider foodservice consulting as a profession. Contact John Cornyn if you would like to be considered for this position.

New ICON Committee Chair - Brett Daniel

Brett on the Bull!

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to attend the FCSI Conference at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio resort in Phoenix Arizona. As a 'first timer' of an FCSI event like this one, I was awarded a grant, which covered my registration, airfare and hotel costs. Suffice to say, the conference was AMAZING. A very well organized event that offered back to back learning sessions and speakers from all walks of the industry to give insights into their daily lives and tasks. Motivational speakers, menu development, dining trends and a look into the future of foodservice were among the many sessions offered during this conference. Between the educational sessions and the "after hours" events, I never saw a sad face until the very last day when we all had to go home. It was truly an engaging experience and I will make a solid effort to attend every single one in the future.
This particular conference was special to me, in that I took on the role as chair of the ICON committee. In this committee we focus on recruiting new members and inspiring them to move their way up the professional ladder. I am honored to be a part of this group, as we have some very talented and knowledgeable members working to make the society better as a whole. I am looking forward to many more years as a part of FCSI.
Brett Daniel is the chair of the ICON Committee, a committee that promotes the participation of new and emerging members of FCSI TA.
