A DECADE'S WORTH OF GRATITUDE TO THE AFTER THE PROM PARTY TEAM A very loud and special shout out to Suzanne Elovecky, Toni Lansbury, and Phil St. Pierre, who created a most unforgettable (and safe) After the Prom Party for our BHS prom-goers. With the massive Tappan gym transformed into a walk "Through the Decades", there was an unending supply of food, games, and activities provided until 5am. Over 400 students enjoyed raffles for prizes donated by Brookline businesses, a DJ spinning tunes, a mechanical bull, bowling, a live hypnotist and many other fun activities. The ATTP team's amazing creativity, perseverance, and leadership, kept our students safe, on an otherwise dangerous night. On behalf of the BHS parents and community, a very heartfelt and sincere thank you to Suzanne, Toni, and Phil!

SAVE THE DATE! Eleventh Annual College Essay Workshop for Seniors (Class of 2015) Saturday, September 27, 2012, 8: 30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Rising Seniors - register now at: bhsessay2014.eventbrite.com. You will work in small groups with others who are at the same stage in the writing process, and are led by BHS teachers to refine their writing, spend time in peer review, and get individual help and feedback from teachers and parent volunteers.
Parents - We depend on volunteers to make this event work. This is a one-day, one-time commitment. Do you have experience as a writer or editor and would like to help students with their writing? Or do you prefer to work behind the scenes providing logistical support (set-up the day before, registration the day of, provide snacks, etc.)? We need you both, so please register at bhsessay2014.eventbrite.com.
Interested in joining the team that coordinates this event? We are looking to train people interested in co-chairing this workshop in the future.
Please contact us at BHSessay@gmail.com if you would like to become involved.
THANKS TO A PTO GRANT African storyteller, Famoro, lit up the MLK room with his smile, his stories, his balaphone music and his wonderful rapport with the students. The AP and honors classes, the OFC and Excel kids, the Spanish and French students, the student from Israel talking music theory, the shy girl from China trying out the instrument, the boy from the Congo shining with pride - everyone joined in to ask questions (in French and English), hear his songs and explore his amazing hand-made instrument. BHS Teachers Laura Gurry and Kenny Kozol organized this wonderful event.
