PARTY ALL NIGHT LONG!! It's here! The prom! And with that, the After the Prom Party! WE NEED CHAPERONES! Please sign up for the opportunity of a lifetime --- attendance (chaperoning) at the Brookline High School After the Prom Party! And you thought it was just for teens!! Here's your chance to live it up and party into the wee hours (or rather, keep an eye on prom-goers while they celebrate). There will be music, food, and lots of entertainment (and coffee). We need at least 35 parents to man all of the food and entertainment stations to keep the party running through the night, and we are currently falling short of that minimum number. Please consider losing a little (?) sleep in order to keep the Brookline prom goers safe and substance free on a traditionally dangerous night. Questions? Email suzanne.elovecky@gmail.com

PREVIEW THE ATPP!! This Monday, the efforts of parents, faculty, staff, and community members are culminating into what we expect to be the best ATPP yet! We invite all parents to come and get a "sneak peek" of the transformed Tappan Gym - the doors will be open for you to peruse the "Blast from the Past" from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Come by! We also have yet to meet our fundraising goals - please donate to this year's party. You can also bring a check to the preview - donations will be accepted. (All donations are tax deductible, and we will provide you with a receipt.)

REVISED SCHEDULE THIS WEEK as Freshmen (and some upperclassmen) take their MCAS Science exams. All other 10th and 11th grade students should arrive at 9:30 am on Monday and Tuesday. Please see the special MCAS week calendar here

BHS Parents/Guardians:
letter
I am very happy to announce that Kayla Dorsey-Twumasi will be appointed Associate Dean of Students pending successful contract discussions and transfer of licensure. She will be Associate Dean for next year's tenth graders, the class of 2017.

Kayla is a high school history teacher and will be a new administrator. She currently is a principal fellow at Boston Latin School while she's also completing her M.Ed. at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Kayla is from Utica, NY and did her B.A. at State University of New York at Brockport. From there, she continued onto Cornell University where she completed a Master of Professional Studies in African Studies. Kayla then taught social studies at the Doctors Charter School in Miami, FL before heading to graduate school in Cambridge.

We had three extremely strong finalists for the Associate Dean position. Each candidate had different talents, skill sets, and experience, and yet each held huge promise for fulfilling this important role. These factors made the decision very difficult. Dean of Students Scott Butchart and I believe Kayla brings a valuable outside perspective to BHS and a wide variety of experiences, which will make her a valuable role model for our students. Throughout her interview process, we were struck by how Kayla thought about high school education, student engagement, and her relationships with her students. We were also struck by how we believe she will "make us think" and reflect on our own work at BHS.
This summer, Kayla will begin working with me, Scott, Alexia Thomas, Lisa Redding, and others to begin the transition.

Please join me in welcoming Kayla Dorsey-Twumasi.

Sincerely,
Deborah Holman
