Brookline High School - This Week
SCHOOL CLOSINGS AND AFTER SCHOOL EVENTS Please be aware that when the high school is closed due to inclement weather, all after school and evening activities and events are cancelled. The Headmaster's office, in consultation with the town, will decide about reinstating events, if weather conditions improve.

FIRST ANNUAL SOCIAL JUSTICE MOVIE SERIES Presented by the BHS Social Justice Program. On Tuesday, February 11th - "The House I Live In" will be screened in Room 384, at 6:30 pm. This very intense film examines the extent that people--especially poor and people of color--are being locked up, and the consequences of those policies. JUNIOR PARENT NIGHT - COLLEGE AND TESTING TIMELINE Wednesday, February 12th in the BHS Auditorium. Deborah Holman, the BHS Headmaster, will speak at 7:00 pm. At 7:20 pm, Lenny Libenzon the Coordinator of Guidance, will provide timeline details. At 8 pm, there will be breakout sessions, led by your child's Guidance Counselor.
 
AFTER THE PROM PARTY ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING Thursday, February 13 at 7pm in the Cafeteria. Please plan to join us to be part of Team ATPP 2013! We need a lot of volunteers to help make this event happen so whether you have lots of time or a little time, we want you! If you are interested in helping but are unable to make the meeting please email Suzanne Elovecky and indicate your area of interest. THANK YOU! 

CHAMBER MUSIC Please join us this Thursday, February 13 at 7:30pm, in the Black Box Theater, for the Chamber Music Concert. Members of the BHS Orchestra will perform duets of J.S. Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Johan Havorsen, a Franz Shubert string quartet, Edward Elgar's Serenade for Strings and more.

SIGN UP FOR SWS (School Within A School). Interested students should drop by the SWS office, room 400, to sign up for the SWS Lottery, pick up an information packet and ask any questions they may have about the process. The SWS Lottery sign-up is open until February 28, 2014.

STEPS TO SUCCESS in partnership with the Public Schools of Brookline, the Brookline Housing Authority and the Brookline Community Foundation, supports students residing in low income housing starting in the 4th grade through post graduate education. TEEN DATING With Valentine's Day looming, February is a month in which romance tends to be  front and center. It's also Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, which makes it an ideal opportunity to start a conversation with teens about healthy relationships. Talking can be one of the most effective ways you can help prevent dating violence, and Loveisrespect.org and Breakthecycle.org have some excellent tips for starting the discussion, as well as dating basics, warning signs of abuse, and information on how to help your child.

EXECUTIVE SKILLS WORKSHOP Wed, Feb 12 at 8:30am at Town Hall, 5th floor. Enhancing Executive Skills at Home in Support of School Work. Part 2 of a 4 part series, Dr. Von Hahn, Behavioral Pediatrician at Tufts Medical Center will speak with parents. Audience participation is welcome. This free lecture series will meet again on Mar 19 and Apr 16. Click here for for more information.

ELECTIVE OFFICE WORKSHOP The topic will be: "How (and Why) to Run". Wednesday, February 12 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Brookline Town Hall, Room 103 - 333 Washington Street.
